Calorie Calculator

Discover your daily calorie needs for weight loss, maintenance, or muscle gain based on your stats and activity.

How Many Calories Do I Need Per Day?

Your daily calorie requirement depends on your age, sex, height, weight, and especially your physical activity level. This calculator uses the scientifically validated Mifflin-St Jeor equation to estimate your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate), then multiplies it by your activity factor to calculate your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE).

The Calorie Deficit & Surplus Principle

One pound (0.45 kg) of body fat roughly equals 3,500 calories. Therefore:

  • To lose 0.5 kg per week: Create a daily deficit of ~500 calories below your TDEE.
  • To lose 1 kg per week: Create a daily deficit of ~1,000 calories (generally not recommended without medical supervision).
  • To gain 0.5 kg per week: Eat a daily surplus of ~500 calories above your TDEE, combined with strength training for lean muscle mass gains.
